Hey guys, planning to build a deck this summer and need a grinder to cut some metal brackets and maybe a few bolts. I'm on a budget but want something decent. Should I go corded or cordless? Brands? Thanks!

For a deck build, I'd go corded for the power and runtime. A 4-1/2" Makita or DeWalt is solid. I use my Makita 9557PB for all my metal work. It's cheap and lasts forever. Cordless is handy but you'll burn through batteries cutting metal.

I agree with Tim, but if you want cordless, the DeWalt DCG414 is a beast. I restored an old shed with it and it handled rebar no problem. But yeah, for a one-time deck build, get a corded one and save money.

DeWalt all the way! The DWE4011 is cheap and never dies. I've had mine for 10 years, still going strong. Don't waste money on Makita junk.

Hater! lol. Makita 9557PB is the best value. Lightweight, powerful, and affordable. DeWalt is overrated. But hey, any name brand will work. Just get a 4-1/2" and some cutoff wheels.
