Hey guys, I'm in the market for a new angle grinder. I've been using a cheapo for years and it's finally giving up. I'm torn between the DeWalt DWE402 and the Makita 9557PB. I mostly do metal cutting and grinding on renovation projects. Any advice? I've heard mixed things.

I've owned both. The Makita is lighter and feels more balanced in the hand, which is crucial for precision work. The DeWalt has a bit more power, but the Makita's speed control is smoother. If you're doing fine grinding, go with Makita. But if you need brute force, DeWalt. Also check the spindle lock - Makita's is more convenient.

Makita all the way! I've been a Makita guy for 20 years. Their grinders last forever. I've dropped mine, dragged it through mud, and it still runs like a champ. DeWalt is good, but Makita is just built tougher. Plus, the 9557PB has a better guard adjustment. Trust me, you won't regret it.

Thanks for the input! I'm leaning Makita now, but I'm worried about replacement parts and accessories. Are they easy to find? I don't want to wait weeks for a new brush or something.

Parts are everywhere online. Makita is a big brand, and their grinders are popular, so you'll find parts at any home center or Amazon. I've replaced brushes and even the armature on mine without issue. Go for it, Rick. You'll be happy.
