Hey guys, I'm lookin' at gettin' a new 4.5" angle grinder. My old one finally gave out. I'm torn between the DeWalt DWE402 and the Makita GA4530. I do a mix of metal fab and masonry work. Anyone got experience with both? Price isn't the #1 factor but I don't wanna waste cash either.

I've got the Makita GA4530. Its a workhorse. Lightweight and the side switch is nice. But I've heard the DeWalt is a beast for the price. My buddy has the DWE402 and loves it. I think you can't go wrong. Makita has a better dust ejection though. Just my 2 cents.

Precision wise, the Makita runs smoother out of the box. The DeWalt has more torque though. If you're doing heavy grinding, DeWalt. For finishing work, Makita. I'd go with Makita for the better build quality. The GA4530 has a longer cord too, if that matters.

I'd say look at price vs features. The DeWalt DWE402 usually goes on sale for $60 and is brushless. The Makita is around $80 but brushed. For the money, DeWalt gives you more bang. But Makita holds value if you resell later. Check your local store deals. I got my DeWalt for $50 last month.
