Hey all, I'm a retired carpenter looking to replace my old angle grinder for light DIY use. I'm torn between the DeWalt DWE402 and the Makita GA4530. I've used both brands over the years but never had a grinder from either. Which one would you pick for reliability and ease of use? Any experience with these models?

I've got the DeWalt DWE402 and I love it! It's got a nice paddle switch, good power, and the dust ejection system actually works well. I've used it for everything from cutting tile to grinding welds. Never had an issue. That said, I hear Makita makes a solid tool too, but I'm team yellow all the way.

Makita all the way! The GA4530 is lighter and has a better ergonomic grip, in my opinion. I've been using Makita for years and their motors last forever. Plus the side switch is more intuitive for me. I'd take the Makita over DeWalt any day.

Honestly, you can't go wrong with either. Both are workhorses. I own a collection of grinders and have both brands. The Makita is slightly more compact and runs smoother, but the DeWalt has a bit more torque. If you're doing heavy grinding, maybe the DeWalt. For lighter work and precision, go Makita. Also check if you have other batteries in those systems if you go cordless. But for corded, it's a toss-up.
