Hey guys, I'm looking at getting a new angle grinder. I do a lot of metal cutting and some grinding. Can't decide between the Dewalt DWE402 and the Makita 9557PB. Anyone got experience with both? Price is similar but I want something durable.

I've had both. The Makita is lighter and more comfortable for overhead work. Dewalt is a beast though, more power and the guard adjust is easier. If you're doing heavy cutting, Dewalt. For all-around, Makita.

I'm a woodworker so I use grinders for shaping. I prefer Makita because of the variable speed on the 9557PB. But for metal, you probably want the fixed high speed of the Dewalt. Also, Dewalt has a longer warranty I think?

What about the paddle switch vs slide switch? I hate the slide switches because they're hard to hold when wearing gloves. The Dewalt has a paddle switch option I think. Also, check the amp draw - Dewalt is 13 amps vs Makita 12. For tough jobs, extra amp helps.
