Hey all, I've got a cordless angle grinder that just stopped charging. I've had it for about 2 years, use it fairly often. The battery pack won't take a charge anymore, the charger light stays red. I've tried cleaning the contacts, but no luck. Anyone else had this issue? Is it worth getting a new battery or should I just get a new grinder? Thanks!

Hey Larry, sounds like a dead battery. 2 years is about the lifespan for Li-ion cells if you use them hard. Have you checked if the battery is swollen or feels hot? Sometimes they just die. You could try a new battery if it's not too pricey, but honestly, if the grinder is a cheap one, might be worth upgrading. I've had good luck with aftermarket batteries, just make sure they have good reviews. Good luck!

Yeah, what Will said. I'd also check the charger itself. Sometimes it's the charger that's dead, not the battery. Try charging a different battery if you have one, or test the charger with a multimeter. If the charger puts out voltage, then it's the battery. And if you're gonna buy a new battery, get one with higher amp-hours for longer runtime. Just my two cents.

Thanks for the tips! I'll try to test the charger with my multimeter. I don't have another battery for this tool, so that's out. The battery doesn't look swollen to me, but I'll give it a closer look. If it's the battery, I'll probably get a new one from Amazon. Appreciate the help!
