Hey guys, I'm building a deck this weekend and need to cut some metal brackets and maybe a few pavers. I don't have a grinder yet. What should I get? Budget is around $100. I'm thinking a 4-1/2" angle grinder, but there's so many options. Any recommendations?

For $100, you can get a solid grinder. I'd go with a Makita 9557PB or a DeWalt DWE402. Both are reliable and have good power. If you can stretch a bit, the Bosch GWS8-45 is also nice. Make sure to get some cutting and grinding wheels too!

Safety first! Whatever you get, ALWAYS use the guard and wear eye protection and gloves. Grinders kick back hard. Also, for cutting pavers, you'll need a diamond blade. Don't use a metal cutting wheel on masonry. And make sure the grinder has a paddle switch for better control.

I've got an old Milwaukee 4-1/2" that's been running for years. If you can find one used, they're tanks. But honestly, for $100, any name brand will do. Just grab a variable speed one if you can, helps with different materials. And yeah, what Chris said about safety - I've got the scars to prove it lol.

Thanks guys! I think I'll go with the DeWalt DWE402. It's on sale at Home Depot for $79. And I'll pick up a diamond blade for the pavers. Appreciate the safety tips - I'll definitely use the guard and grab some gloves. Wish me luck!
