Philips coffee machine with 90-second cold brew? That's a grinder in disguise?

So I stumbled on this article about Philips launching a Baristina Bar Pro 500 coffee machine that does cold brew in 90 seconds. I'm a coffee nut but also a precision freak with my grinders. This thing claims to have a built-in grinder with 30 settings? I'm skeptical about the consistency at that speed. Anyone else think this is just a marketing gimmick? Link: [url]

Carl, I hear ya. But think of it like an angle grinder – you want the right disc for the job. If their burr grinder is as precise as a good Makita, maybe it works. My wife got a Breville last year – it's decent for espresso, but for cold brew, I just use a French press and a cheapo blade grinder. 90 seconds sounds like a pressure extraction, not true steeping. I'd stick to my $20 hand grinder for cold brew, honestly.

Lol Pete's comparing it to angle grinders 😂 But seriously, I'm a DIYer who loves a good cup after a day in the shop. I saw this machine at a trade show – it's sleek. But $500? That's almost as much as my DeWalt table saw! For that price, I could get a separate grinder and a Moccamaster. Cold brew in 90 secs? I'm suspicious – real cold brew takes 12-24 hours. Probably just uses high pressure to extract fast. Might be bitter.

Will, exactly – I'm a stickler for grind consistency, and high pressure extraction can mess with the particle size. I'd need to see a side-by-side grind test with a Baratza or something. But if it works, maybe I'll buy one for the jobsite trailer. The built-in tamper seems like a gimmick too. Anyone actually used one?
