Hey folks, just wanted to share a quick safety reminder. I've been using angle grinders for years and yesterday I got a piece of metal in my eye – thank god I was wearing safety glasses. It scared the hell out of me. I know some of you skip the PPE when 'just making a quick cut', but seriously, it's not worth it. Invest in some decent safety glasses or a face shield. Your eyes are irreplaceable.

Couldn't agree more, Pete. I had a near miss a few months back with a grinding wheel that threw a chunk right at my face. I was wearing PPE, but it still left me shaken. I always use a full face shield now when grinding – the glasses are good, but a shield gives that extra coverage.

Newbie question here – I've been grinding without any eye protection because I didn't think it was that bad. What kind of glasses do you guys recommend? I wear prescription glasses, so it's a pain sometimes.

Will, I use over-the-glass safety glasses. They fit right over your regular specs. Also, I'd suggest looking into anti-fog ones – even better if you get the ones with a foam seal to keep dust out. And adding a face shield is a game-changer for heavy grinding. Safety first, always.

Great advice, DrillMaster. For Will, also consider a full face shield plus the glasses – cheap insurance. I've been using a 3M face shield, but any good one works. And remember, it's not just your eyes – ear protection too unless you’re deaf already haha.
