So I was at the local hardware store today and saw a DeWalt DWE402 angle grinder marked down to $79 from $129. I'm just starting out as an apprentice and need my own tools. Is this a good deal or is there a catch? I've heard DeWalt is solid, but I don't wanna waste my money if it's a dud.

That's a steal! I've used that model on a few roofing jobs. Plenty of power for cutting tile and metal. Just remember, a grinder is one of the most dangerous tools in your arsenal. Always use the guard, wear safety glasses and gloves, and never remove the handle. I've seen too many accidents from dudes being careless. But yeah, $79 is a no-brainer. Grab it before someone else does!

Second that. I've had one for years, it eats through rust and stubborn bolts like butter. The only thing I'd say is watch out for the spindle lock - it can be a bit finicky when changing discs. But at that price, even if it breaks, you can buy another and still be ahead. Might want to check if it's the brushless version, though. If it's the older brushed one, it still works, just less efficient.

I'm a woodworker, so I use a grinder for shaping and sharpening. That's a great deal for a name brand. Just make sure you get some quality cutting or grinding discs, not the cheap ones. And for the love of all things holy, don't burn out the motor by pressing too hard. Let the tool do the work. But honestly, if you're just starting out, that's a great addition to your kit. It'll last you years if you treat it right.

Thanks guys! That's reassuring. I'll go back tomorrow and grab it. I'll be sure to safety up, Steve. And I'll get some good discs. Appreciate the advice!
