Hey all, been using my new angle grinder a lot lately, but I’m getting nervous about sparks in the eyes. I’ve got some cheap safety glasses but they fog up bad. What are you guys using? Any tips? Not trying to lose an eye over a $50 tool lol.

Dude, get a full-face shield. Seriously. Even with glasses, sparks can bounce off and get in from the sides. I use a UVEX face shield with anti-fog coating – cost me like $30 but worth it. Also, make sure your grinder has a guard. Don’t be that guy.

I just use the 3-pack safety glasses from Harbor Freight. They’re like $5 and work fine for me. But I always keep the guard on and stand to the side. If you’re fogging up, try wiping them with dish soap or get anti-fog wipes. No need to spend a lot.

Thanks guys. I might try the anti-fog wipes first since I’m on a budget. But Wendy151, that face shield sounds like a good investment – I’ve had sparks hit my cheek before. Do you wear hearing protection too? My grinder is loud as hell.

100% yes. I use these 3M Peltor ear muffs – they’re not cheap but they cut the noise way down. I’ve seen guys get tinnitus from years of grinding without ear pro. Don’t risk it. Earplugs work too if you’re on a budget like Wendy184. lol
