Hey guys, I'm planning to build a 12x16 pressure-treated deck this spring. I've got a basic skillset but want to invest in a good circular saw that can handle the wet, heavy lumber without bogging down. Corded or cordless? I'm leaning towards a 7-1/4" blade. Budget around $150-200. Any recommendations?

For PT lumber, corded is the way to go for consistent power. I'd recommend a Skilsaw Mag 77 – it's a beast, cuts through wet wood like butter. You can find it for around $150 if you shop around. If you must go cordless, get a Makita 36V – but it'll be over your budget.

I'm all about DeWalt! The 20V Max 7-1/4" (DWE575) is a solid choice. I've framed entire additions with one. The brake and electric brake are super safe. Battery life is great with a 5Ah. Might be a bit over $200 but worth it.

Sorry Rick, Makita is king. Go cordless with the XSH03Z (36V). They have a 6-1/2" but go 7-1/4" for a deck. It'll handle that PT with no problem. And you can use the batteries for other tools. Might have to stretch your budget a bit, but you'll thank me later.

Thanks everyone! I think I'll go with the Skilsaw Mag 77 as Will suggested – it's a classic and within my budget. Appreciate the input!
