Hey y'all, I'm looking to upgrade my old gas mower to a battery-powered one. I'm torn between the DeWalt 60V Max and the Makita 36V (two 18V batteries). I don't have a huge yard, maybe 1/4 acre. Which one gives better bang for the buck? I'm on a budget but don't want junk.

I'd go with Makita for the batteries. Those 18V batteries are super versatile across their tools. If you already have any Makita gear, it's a no-brainer. But if you're starting from scratch, DeWalt's 60V is a beast. My neighbor has the DeWalt and it cuts through thick grass like butter. Just my 2 cents.

I'm a pro contractor and I use DeWalt on job sites daily. Their 60V line is built tough. For a 1/4 acre, either will work fine. But consider the runtime: DeWalt's 60V (9Ah) has more capacity than Makita's 36V (5Ah). Also, DeWalt's mower has a self-propelled option if you want that. I'd lean DeWalt.

I've got a Makita mower and it's been solid for 2 years on a 1/3 acre. The 36V system is lighter and the batteries swap with my circular saw and impact. Plus Makita has a 4-year warranty vs DeWalt's 3. And you can find deals on the mower with 4 batteries. Just sayin'. Don't sleep on Makita.

Thanks guys! I think I'm leaning Makita since I already have a drill and saw from them. Hank, Bob, Mike - all good points. I'll wait for a sale and grab the Makita. Appreciate the help!
