Hey guys, I'm in the market for a new cordless lawn mower. I already have DeWalt tools (drill, impact driver) but I'm seeing a lot of hype about Makita's 36V mowers. Should I stick with DeWalt or switch to Makita? I've got about $500 to spend. Any advice?

I'd stick with the platform you already have, especially if you have batteries. Mixing battery systems is a pain. DeWalt has decent mowers now, and their 20V max is fine for small to medium lawns. But if you've got a big lawn, maybe check the 60V flexvolt. Just make sure you check the torque and cutting width.

I've used both. My neighbor has the Makita 36V and it's a beast, but it eats batteries. I have a DeWalt 20V and it handles my suburban yard fine. If you're invested in DeWalt, go with that. Save your money for more batteries. Also, check the warranty - DeWalt has a 3-year limited.

Honestly, for a mower, Makita is solid. But I'm a Makita fanboy, so take that with a grain of salt. The 36V mowers are powerful and have a nice self-propelled option. But since you already have DeWalt, I'd say get the DeWalt. You'll save on batteries and chargers. Just get a decent model with brushless motor.

Thanks for the replies. Sounds like sticking with DeWalt is the smart move. I'll look for a brushless model. Any specific model you recommend? I have a small lawn, like a quarter acre.
