So I was at the hardware store today and spotted a Makita 18V leaf blower on clearance. It's the bare tool, no battery or charger, for $49. I already have a bunch of Makita batteries from my drill and impact driver, so it would just need the tool. Is this a good deal? I've been thinking about getting a blower for cleaning up the yard and workshop. Any thoughts?

That's a solid price for a Makita blower, especially if you're already in the ecosystem. I have the same one, and it works great for blowing out the garage and the drive. Just don't expect it to move wet leaves like a gas blower, but for general maintenance it's perfect. If you don't need it, you could always flip it on eBay, but I'd keep it. I've seen those go for $70-80 bare.

Jump on that, Paul! I'm all about budget, and that's a steal. I used a cheap corded one for years, but once I got a cordless, I never looked back. Just make sure you check the model number, some of those clearances are old models, but they work the same. And since you already have batteries, it's even more worth it. If you don't want it, let me know where the store is, I'll grab it for my son! LOL

I'm with Rick, that's a good deal. I have the same blower for cleaning up sawdust in my workshop, and it's surprisingly powerful. The only downside is battery life, but if you've got multiple batteries, you're fine. Make sure you use a 5Ah battery for longer run time. And if it's the XGT version, even better, but I bet it's the 18V LXT. Either way, you won't regret it. I paid double that for mine a couple years ago.
