So I was at the big box store today and spotted a cordless mower on clearance. It's a 40V with a 5Ah battery, 20-inch deck, and it was marked down to $199 from $399. I've been thinking about going cordless for a while, but I'm not sure if it's a good deal or if I should pass. Anyone have experience with these? Is it worth grabbing?

Whoa, that's a sweet price! But before you take the plunge, think about the battery. 5Ah is decent, but if you have a big yard, you might need a second one. Also, check the warranty and if the battery is replaceable. I've seen guys get stuck with a mower that has a proprietary battery that costs more than the mower when it dies. Just my two cents.

Yep, what Hank said. I've been using cordless mowers for about 5 years now. That price is a steal if it's a reputable brand. My rule of thumb: if the battery is interchangeable with other tools you have or plan to get, it's a win. Otherwise, you might be locked into that ecosystem. Also, check the cutting width - 20 inches is good for small to medium yards. My yard is a quarter acre, and I get by with one battery, but just barely. If I had a bigger yard, I'd want a 7.5Ah or a second battery. If you can, pop by the store and see if there's a floor model you can try - just to check the balance and power.

Hey, that's not a bad deal at all! I've been using a cordless mower for two years now, and honestly, the convenience is unmatched - no cords, no gas, just press a button and go. But here's a tip: check the reviews for that specific model. Some are known for poor battery life or weak motors. Also, see if it has a brushless motor - those last longer and are more efficient. If it's brushless, I'd say go for it. And if you buy it, don't forget to register the warranty online!

Thanks guys, appreciate the input! I checked the model online and it's brushless, from a solid brand, and the battery is compatible with their other tools. I think I'm gonna grab it before it's gone. Also, I talked myself into getting an extra battery since they're on sale too. Gotta have that backup for the bigger yard. Appreciate the advice!
