Found a killer deal on a self-propelled mower - worth it?

So I was browsing at the local hardware store and saw a Toro Recycler 22in self-propelled on clearance for $299. Original price was $449 I think. I've been using a push reel mower and my arms are killing me. Is this a good buy? I have about a 1/4 acre lawn with some hills. Should I jump on it?

That's a solid price, Linda. I've got the same model and it's a beast. The self-propelled really helps on hills. For 1/4 acre, it'll eat it up. At that price, it's a steal. Check the model number though, make sure it's not old stock with issues. But if it's new in box, grab it!

Yeah, I agree with Rick. Toro Recycler is a good line. I've used them for clients and they hold up well. $299 is a no-brainer if it's the one with the Briggs or Toro engine. Just check for missing parts. I once bought a 'deal' and it was missing the grass catcher. But still worth it.

Just a tip: make sure the self-propelled drive works smoothly. Sometimes those can be finicky. But Toro is reliable. For the price, you can't go wrong. And with hills, you'll appreciate the drive. I'd say go for it. If you're worried, ask if they have a return policy. But I'd jump on it.

Thanks all! I'm going back tomorrow to pick it up. I'll inspect it per your advice. Appreciate the help! Hopefully it's still there.
