Hey guys, I've got a GreenWorks 80V mower and the battery won't charge. Plugged it in, charger shows green for a sec then blinks red. Battery is 2 years old, stored in garage over winter. Is it dead for good or can I revive it? Tried leaving it on charger for a few hours, no luck.

Sounds like the BMS (battery management system) went into protection mode. Could be a cell imbalance. Try jumping it with a known good battery of the same voltage if you have one - just touch terminals for a sec. Or try a slow charge with a lower voltage charger if you have one. Otherwise it's probably toast. GreenWorks batteries are known to fail after a couple years.

Had the same issue with my Ryobi 40V. Turns out the charger was the problem. Try borrowing a friend's charger if you can. Also, check the contacts on the battery for corrosion. I cleaned mine with a pencil eraser and it worked again.

Thanks guys. Tried cleaning contacts - no dice. Don't have another 80V battery or charger. Guess I'll just buy a new one. Any recommendations? Stick with GreenWorks or switch to a different brand? I got about 45 mins runtime on a full charge.

If you're open to switching, Makita's 36V (2x18V) system is solid. Runs forever and batteries last years. But you'd need a new mower and batteries. EGO is also good if you want 56V. Personally, I'd replace with same brand if your wallet allows - less hassle.
