Hey all, just a friendly reminder to wear your safety glasses when mowing. I had a close call today - a small rock flew up and hit my cheek, right below my eye. Lucky I had glasses on, else I'd be typing this with one eye. Seriously, it's not worth the risk. And for those on a budget, you don't need fancy ones - I got a pair at the hardware store for $5.

Great advice, Sparky. I've been in the restoration game for decades, and I've seen too many folks lose an eye or get cut from debris. Even if you're just trimming, wear eye protection. I also recommend ear protection if you're using a loud mower - tinnitus is no joke. And if you're cutting near rocks or gravel, consider a face shield.

I'm new to this, so thanks for the tips. I always thought safety glasses were for power tools like saws, not mowers. Good to know they're needed for mowing too. Do you guys also wear gloves or boots? I've been wearing sneakers, but maybe that's not enough?

Yeah, definitely wear sturdy boots - not sneakers. I wear steel-toe boots when mowing, in case I hit something hard. Gloves help with grip and protect from blisters, but they're not as critical. Just make sure you're wearing something that covers your feet completely.

Also, chaps or long pants depending on the terrain. If you're dealing with thick brush, you might want to invest in some chaps. I've seen too many people get cut by flying branches. And always check the area for debris before you start - a quick walk-through can save you a lot of trouble.
