Hey everyone, just wanted to share a quick safety tip after a close call last weekend. Was using my string trimmer and a rock shot right past my face - scared the heck outta me! Remember your safety glasses, folks! What other PPE do you guys never skip when doing yard work?

Good call Hank! I'm a Stihl guy through and through, and their Pro hearing protection is worth every penny. Noise from mowers and trimmers adds up over time. Also, proper steel-toe boots - not those flimsy sneakers. My local dealer has a great selection of quality gear.

I hear you on the safety glasses - picked up a 3-pack at Harbor Freight for like $8. Works just fine! For ear protection, I use those basic orange muffs from the hardware store. They're cheap and get the job done. Anyone found good budget gloves that actually last?

Don't forget about respirators when you're doing serious work! Last fall I was cleaning out the shed and moving old bags of fertilizer - dust everywhere. My 3M half-face with P100 filters saved my lungs. Also, knee pads if you're doing any planting or edging. My old joints thank me!

Great points everyone! Paul, totally agree on the knee pads - game changer for weeding. Gary, I'll check out those Stihl earmuffs next time I'm at the dealer. Bob, for gloves I've had good luck with the Mechanix FastFit - not the cheapest but they last me a whole season. Stay safe out there!
