Hey folks, DIYDave here. Been doing more yard work since retiring from carpentry, and I'm curious about PPE for lawn care. I always wore safety glasses and gloves on job sites, but what about when mowing or using a trimmer? Any tips to avoid flying debris or hearing damage? Share your go-to gear!

Great topic Dave! As a contractor, I've seen too many close calls. For mowing: safety glasses (ANSI-rated), ear protection (muffs or plugs), sturdy boots (no sandals!), and long pants. If you're using a trimmer, add a face shield - those rocks and twigs can really fly. And don't forget sunscreen! Tim out.

Totally agree with Tim. In restoration, we deal with hidden hazards. For lawn care: hearing protection is crucial - mowers can hit 90+ dB. I use electronic muffs so I can still hear my surroundings. Also, consider a dust mask if you have allergies or are blowing debris. And keep a first aid kit handy - just in case. Stay safe!

Thanks Tim and Pete! Good call on the face shield and electronic muffs - hadn't thought of those. I'll add them to my kit. Anyone have brand recommendations for comfortable safety glasses that don't fog up? My old ones from the job site are pretty beat up.

Dave, I like the DeWalt goggles with anti-fog coating - they're affordable and durable. Also, remember to check your equipment before starting: make sure guards are in place on mowers and trimmers. A quick visual inspection can prevent accidents. Happy and safe mowing everyone!
