Found a crazy deal at Home Depot – DeWalt 20V Max hedge trimmer (DCST972) for $99, normally $199. I've been eyeing it for a while. Anyone used it? Worth the scratch? My gas one just died and I'm thinking of going cordless.

I've had mine for a season now. It's got plenty of power for my yard (medium sized). Batteries last longer than I expected. For that price, it's a steal. Just make sure you get the 20V max batteries, not the old 18V ones. And clean the blades after each use, else sap builds up.

@GarageGreg66 - I'm all about gas, but for small stuff like hedges, electric is fine. I used a DeWalt once on a job – it did the trick. At that price, grab two and sell one, lol.

I bought one refurbished for $120 and it was fine. But check the brushless motor – the DCST972 is brushless, so it should last. Also, if you don't have the 20V batteries, factor in the cost. Still, $99 is a no-brainer if you're in the DeWalt ecosystem.

Thanks guys! I got a couple 5Ah batts from my drill, so I'm set. Going back to grab it before they're gone. Appreciate the input!
