Hey guys, saw this deal on a Stalwart 12V drill set for $52 with free shipping. I'm mostly doing light yard stuff like assembling furniture or maybe some small repairs. Anyone have experience with this brand? Seems too cheap to pass up.

I wouldn't touch that with a 10-foot pole. Stalwart is a no-name brand, usually found at discount stores. 12V is pretty weak for anything beyond basic screwing into drywall. For yard work, you'll want at least 18V. Skip it and save for something like a Ryobi or DeWalt that will last.

I get that Tim, but for $52 it might be OK for a homeowner who just needs to hang a few things. I've used a similar cheap set and it worked fine for assembling a shed. Not gonna build a deck with it, but for light duty it's a steal. Just don't expect pro performance.

I actually bought a Stalwart set last year on a whim. The battery dies super fast and the chuck is wobbly. Ended up returning it and getting a Kobalt set on clearance. Spend a little more and you'll be happier. But if you absolutely need a drill *right now* and can't afford more, it'll get you by for a project or two.

I second what Sarah said. I tried one of these for installing a ceiling fan. It struggled with the screws and the battery was dead halfway through. Get a proper drill from a known brand. You can find deals on refurbished tools for not much more. This is a waste of $52.
