Just saw this article about the 'tuna can test' for watering your lawn. Sounds interesting but I'm a bit skeptical. Anyone tried this? Seems like a DIY way to measure sprinkler output, but I've never heard of it. What do you guys think?

I've heard of this! It's just placing empty tuna cans around your yard to catch water from your sprinkler, then measuring how long it takes to fill them up. It's an old trick but works. I've used it to adjust my sprinkler heads. Better than guessing, saves water and prevents overwatering.

Lol, tuna can test! My grandpa used to do that. He'd leave a few cans out and see if the water was even. But honestly, you don't need to be precise unless you're growing a golf course. Just stick a screwdriver in the ground and see if it's moist. But yeah, the tuna can test is better than nothing.

I've used the tuna can method for clients. Place several cans around the lawn, run sprinklers for 30 mins, measure water depth. Aim for about 1-1.5 inches per week. Adjust run times based on that. It's cheap and effective. But don't use tuna cans with pop-top lids, they leak. Use the ones you open with a can opener.
