Hey guys, I'm restoring a old house and need a new laser distance measurer. Can't decide between the DeWalt DW03050 and the Makita LD080P. I need something accurate to 1/16" for framing layouts. Anyone got experience with both?

I've used both extensively. The Makita is more consistent in accuracy, especially over longer distances (like 50+ ft). DeWalt tends to drift a bit if the battery is low. The Makita also has a better visible laser dot. Go with Makita unless you're strictly a DeWalt fanboy.

Been using the DeWalt DW03050 for a year on my garage projects. No complaints, but I'm not doing precision work like Hank. For diy shelves and stud spacing, it's fine. Makita's nice but costs more. If budget's a thing, DeWalt is solid enough.

I'm all about the best bang for the buck. DeWalt is cheaper and I've seen it on sale at HD. Unless you're a pro needing 1/16" every time, save a few bucks. My DW03050 has been good for rough-in measurements. Makita is overkill for most diy.

Thanks guys. I think I'll go with the Makita since I'm dealing with old crooked walls and need the precision. Hank, any issues with the Makita's bluetooth app? Or is it just a gimmick?
