I've been using both the DW03050 and the Makita LD030P for a while now. Both are 'green beam' but I feel like the Makita holds calibration better on job sites. The DeWalt has a nicer case though. Thoughts?

I've only used the Makita but it's been rock solid for my woodworking projects. The accuracy is spot on even in bright sunlight. I'd say go with Makita if you need precision. DeWalt's customer service has been hit or miss for me.

I'm on a tight budget so I went with a Klein Tools laser measure. It's been fine for my DIY projects. But if I had to choose between those two, I'd probably get the Makita because it's often on sale at Home Depot. Check the price history.

Good point about sales. I snagged the Makita for $80 last black friday. The DeWalt was still $100. Honestly, both are overkill for most home use but if you're doing it professionally, the Makita seems tougher. My DW03050 started giving false readings after a drop.

Yeah, drop resistance is a big deal. I've dropped my Makita from a ladder and it still works like new. Plus the IP54 rating gives me peace of mind. Go with Makita, you won't regret it.
