I'm torn between the DeWalt DW089LG and the Makita SK102Z for job site layout. I need something that can handle bright sunlight and rough use. Anyone have hands-on experience with both?

I've used both extensively. The Makita's green beam is way more visible in sunlight. But the DeWalt's build quality feels more rugged. For rough use, I'd go DeWalt. Makita's laser is slightly more accurate though.

Second that. Makita for precision, DeWalt for durability. Also check battery compatibility - if you're already in one ecosystem, stick with it. I run Makita 18V, so the SK102Z was a no-brainer.

Not a pro, but I've dropped my Makita SK102Z off a ladder twice and it still works. Green beam is killer. That said, I heard DeWalt's new DW099S has Pulse Technology for outdoor use. Might be worth looking into.

Thanks guys! I'm mostly Makita for tools, so I'll go with the SK102Z. The green beam sealed it for me. Appreciate the insights!
