Found a killer deal on a laser level - too good to be true?

Hey everyone, just saw this at Harbor Freight - their 3-line laser level is on sale for $29.99. Normally goes for like $60. I'm just starting out and need one for some shelving projects. Is this worth grabbing or should I save up for something better? Seems like a steal but I don't wanna waste cash on junk.

Mike, I've been using that exact model for about 6 months now. For the price, it's decent. The battery life isn't amazing and it's not super accurate over long distances, but for basic DIY stuff it gets the job done. At $30, you can't really go wrong. I'd say buy it, use it, and if you outgrow it later, upgrade. Better than dropping $200 on a DeWalt you might not need.

Ugh, Harbor Freight? Seriously? I wouldn't trust their lasers for anything precise. If you're going to invest in measuring tools, get a Bosch or a Milwaukee. Yeah, it costs more, but the accuracy and durability are worth it. My Bosch GLL 30 has survived multiple drops and still works perfectly. Don't cheap out on tools that need to be accurate.

I'm with Mike on this - also an apprentice here. I bought a similar cheap laser last year and it was fine for hanging pictures and small stuff. But when I tried to use it for laying out kitchen cabinets, it was off by like 1/4 inch over 10 feet. Had to redo everything. Maybe get it for now but plan to upgrade if you do bigger projects?

Thanks for the input guys! Paul, your experience helps - think I'll grab it for my immediate projects. Sarah, I hear you on quality, but my budget's tight right now. Pete, good point about bigger jobs. I'll start with this and see how it goes. Appreciate the advice!
