Heart rate detectors in cars? What's next, a tape measure that cuddles you?

Found this article about some new patents from North Texas, including Toyota's vehicle heart rate detection. Anyone else think this is a bit overengineered? I mean, I get safety, but my old F150 just tells me when the check engine light comes on. What do y'all think? https://example.com/toyota-heart-rate-patent

Honestly, I think it's a smart move. As a safety inspector, I've seen too many drivers with medical issues behind the wheel. If the car can detect a heart attack and pull over, that could save lives. But yeah, it better be reliable - don't need false alarms when I'm cruising down the highway.

I dunno man, seems like another thing to jack up the price of a car. I still use a tape measure from 1985 and it works fine. But I guess if it saves my ticker, it might be worth it. Wonder if Toyota will offer it as an option or force it on us.

Good point Dan, safety is key. But Rick, you're right about the cost. Probably gonna be standard on all models and we'll end up paying for it. Still, I'd rather have a mechanical gauge than some sensor that needs calibration. Guess I'm old school.
