Toyota heart rate monitor? What's next, measuring blood pressure with a tape measure?

Check this out: Toyota's got a patent for heart rate detection in vehicles. Wild stuff. I mean, I get it for safety alerts, but how long till they start measuring our stress levels at job sites? 😂 Anyone think this could actually be useful for DIY-ers? Maybe a tool that knows when we're about to make a dumb cut? Link: [URL]

Toyota? I'll stick with my old-school feel for measurements. Heart rate detection is for medical folks, not for building decks. All this tech just adds cost and points of failure. Give me a reliable measuring tape any day. My 30-year-old Lufkin still works fine.

Interesting! But I think the real gem in that article are the other patents. I saw something about a new laser level alignment system. That I want. Heart rate? Eh, I already know when I'm working too hard – my saw starts feeling heavy.

Haha true, Steve! But imagine a saw that auto-stops if your heart rate spikes. Might save a few fingers! 😉

If you need a saw to tell you to take a break, you shouldn't be using one. Common sense is the best sensor. But hey, to each their own.
