Just saw this article about Toyota's new heart rate detection thing. Pretty wild how they're putting sensors in cars to monitor your vitals. Could be useful for safety, but I'm a bit wary about the privacy aspect. What do you guys think?

Honestly, I think it's a cool concept. Imagine if the car can detect a heart attack and pull over or call for help. But yeah, privacy is a concern. They probably collect a ton of data. Still, for DIYers, this kind of tech might trickle down to aftermarket gadgets. Won't be seeing me installing one though, I'll stick to my mechanical gauges.

As a guy who's been in the trades for 30 years, I've seen all sorts of tech come and go. Toyota's got a good track record with safety features, so I'd give it a chance. But you're right about privacy – they need to be upfront about what they do with the data. And for measuring tools, this is a step beyond what we use on job sites. Maybe one day we'll have laser levels that check your heart rate too, ha!

I don't know, sounds like big brother is watching. Next thing you know, your car will tell your doctor if you've been eating too many donuts. I like my privacy, thank you. But it is impressive from an engineering standpoint. Just don't expect me to buy one of these things anytime soon.
