Just saw this article about the tuna can test for lawn watering. Sounds interesting but is it legit? Anyone tried it? Link: https://example.com/tuna-can-test

I've been doing something similar for years, never knew it had a fancy name. Basically, you put a few cans around the yard and time how long it takes to fill an inch. That's your watering time. Works good for deep roots. Just make sure you use clean cans, not tuna with oil!

I like the idea but watch out for sharp edges. Cut cans can slice your hand or a kid's foot. Use a measuring cup instead or mark a clear plastic container. Safety first!

Good point Sarah. I'll use a plastic container. Also, does the type of sprinkler matter? I got a oscillating one.

Oscillating should work fine, just place cans in a straight line from the sprinkler to see coverage. I use a hose end timer so I don't forget to turn it off. Overwatering is just as bad as underwatering.
