Hey guys, just a quick safety PSA - I was using some old slip-joint pliers to yank a stripped screw and the tip snapped, sending my hand straight into a jagged edge. Got a nice cut. Anyone here wear cut-resistant gloves when using pliers? Or am I just being clumsy? 😅

Felix, I always wear mechanics gloves with rubber palms when I'm doing heavy pulling or twisting with pliers. The cut resistance is a bonus, but honestly the grip is the main reason. Plus they save your knuckles when the pliers slip. Safety first, man.

I'm just an apprentice but my old man always said 'gloves hide mistakes'. I usually go barehand for feel. But after reading this... maybe I should get some. What brand do y'all recommend?

Tim, that's old school thinking. Modern cut-resistant gloves are thin enough you don't lose much dexterity. I use the Klein Tools ones with the rubber dots on the palm. Great for pliers work. And Felix, if your pliers tip snapped, they were probably cheap or worn out. Invest in good Knipex or Channellock and replace when they get loose.

Thanks guys! Yeah, those were some old generic pliers from a kit. I'll upgrade. And I'll grab some gloves too. Better safe than sorry, right?
