Hey everyone, I'm in the market for a new set of pliers and can't decide between DeWalt and Makita. I've heard good things about both but I'm on a budget. Anyone have experience with either? I mainly do light DIY and occasional car repairs.

Dude, Makita all the way! I've been using Makita pliers for years and they never let me down. The steel is top-notch and the grip is super comfortable. DeWalt might be cheaper but you get what you pay for. Trust me, don't skimp on quality.

I've used both in my line of work. For professional use, Makita is my go-to, but honestly, DeWalt's pliers are also solid for the price. If you're on a budget, go with DeWalt—they'll handle most DIY tasks fine. Just don't expect them to last as long under heavy daily use. For a weekend warrior, they're perfect.

Thanks for the input! Wendy, you mentioned DeWalt is good for the price—I found a set on sale. Are they really that much worse? I can't justify spending double on Makita if I'm only using them a few times a month.

I get that, but think of it as an investment. Makita will outlast DeWalt and you won't have to replace them. I've had my Makita set for 10 years and they're still going strong. DeWalt might be fine now, but in a few years you'll be buying new ones. Just sayin'.
