Hey guys, just saw a set of Knipex Cobra 7" and 10" pliers for $30 on some resale site. That's like half price. Is this legit or a trap? I've been wanting good water pump pliers but don't wanna get scammed.

Mike, check the seller's rating first. If it's a private seller with no feedback, I'd be wary. Knipex fakes are getting good. But if it's a legit deal, jump on it. I've got the 10" Cobras and they're amazing - zero slip on pipes.

I bought a pair of "Knipex" on eBay once and they were totally fake. Marking was off and the jaws didn't align. Returned them. But $30 for a set? That's still a good price if they're real. Ask for pics of the engraving.

I'd be cautious but if you can inspect them before buying, go for it. I got a used pair of Cobras at a flea market for $10 and they're still going strong after 5 years. Just check the rivet and joint for play.
