Found these pliers for $15 at Harbor Freight - too good to be true?

Hey all, was at Harbor Freight yesterday and saw these 10-inch combination pliers on clearance for $15. Normally they're like $30+. They feel decent in hand, but I'm worried they might be cheap junk. Anyone have experience with HF pliers? Need something for basic home repairs and occasional automotive stuff. Worth grabbing?

Dude, I've been using HF pliers on the job site for about 6 months now. For $15, you can't really go wrong. They're not Snap-on quality obviously, but they get the job done. Just don't expect them to last forever if you're using them daily. I've had the teeth wear down a bit on mine, but for occasional use? Totally fine.

Before you buy anything, check for any visible defects in the metal or the joint. Harbor Freight tools sometimes have inconsistent heat treatment. Make sure the handles are properly insulated if you're doing any electrical work. Safety first! Also, look for any sharp edges on the handles that could cause blisters.

I'd be skeptical. At that price point, the tolerances are probably terrible. Do the jaws align perfectly when closed? Any wobble in the pivot? For precision tasks, these will likely disappoint. I'd rather spend $40 on a known brand like Channellock or Knipex that will last decades with proper care.

Thanks for the input everyone! Carl - good to hear they work for occasional use. Gary - I'll check for defects and sharp edges. DrillMaster - I hear you on quality, but $40 is over my budget for something I'll use maybe once a month. Think I'm gonna go back and grab them - can always return if they're truly awful. Appreciate the advice!
