Gloves or No Gloves When Using Pliers?

Hey all, quick question: do you guys wear gloves when using pliers? I was cutting some wire the other day and the pliers slipped, nearly took a chunk out of my hand. I'm thinking about getting a pair of cut-resistant gloves, but not sure if it's overkill. Thoughts?

Good question, Felix! I always wear gloves when using pliers, especially for cutting or twisting. Saved my hands more times than I can count. I use a pair of mechanix gloves, not too bulky but good grip. Better safe than sorry, mate.

I get where you're coming from, but gloves can be a pain sometimes. I've had gloves get caught in moving parts before. I just make sure my pliers have good grips and keep my hands dry. But if you're doing heavy duty work, yeah maybe gloves are worth it. I'd check harbor freight for cheap ones.

I've got a whole drawer of gloves lol. But for pliers, I prefer a snug fit with some padding on the palm. I've got a pair from Klein that are pretty good. Also, don't forget eye protection if you're snipping wire—flying bits are no joke.
