Harley Tool Kits: Gone the Way of the Dodo?

Just read this article about Harley-Davidson no longer including tool kits with new bikes. Is this true? I remember my old man's Shovelhead came with a kit that had everything from a spark plug wrench to a screwdriver. Kinda sad if they're gone. What do you all think?

Honestly, it's a liability thing these days. People try to fix things themselves and mess it up, then blame the manufacturer. Plus, with all the electronics and special tools needed for modern bikes, a basic toolkit is pretty useless. I carry my own anyway - better quality stuff than the factory junk. Safety first, folks.

I get it, but it's still a bummer. I've used my tool kit on the side of the road more times than I can count. Nothing beats the peace of mind of knowing you can tighten a loose bolt or fix a simple issue to get home. Guess I'll have to invest in a decent aftermarket kit now.

I've restored a few old Harleys and those original tool kits are collectible now. It's a piece of history. Modern bikes don't need them as much because they're more reliable, but there's something about the tradition. I always tell people to put together their own kit - get good wrenches, a multi-tool, tire repair kit, etc. Better than any stock kit.

Not a biker, but I get the frustration. It's like when new cars stopped coming with spare tires. They say it's because of weight and fuel economy, but really it's cost-cutting. I'd rather have the toolkit and know how to use it. Maybe they could offer it as an optional extra. But hey, at least you can still buy one online, right?
