Just read this article about Harley no longer including tool kits with new bikes. Is this true? I mean, my grandpa's old Shovelhead came with a full kit that saved my butt more than once. What's everyone's thoughts? Link in OP.

Heard about this a while back. It's a shame, but not surprising. Everything's becoming more specialized and they probably figure most folks will just call a tow truck. Still, I always keep a basic kit in my saddlebags. You never know when you'll need to tighten a loose bolt on the side of the road.

Back in the day, those tool kits were decent, but honestly they were pretty basic. I've restored a few bikes and the tools were always subpar. The wrenches were often soft and would round off nuts. I'd rather they didn't include a cheap kit and instead give me a discount so I can buy my own quality tools. Pro tip: a good quality multi-tool and a small socket set is all you really need for most roadside fixes.

Newbie here - I didn't even know they used to come with tools. My old man has a 90s Softail and he's got a roll of tools under the seat, but I thought that was just him. So, what do you carry for emergencies? I'm looking to build a small kit for my Sportster, any recommendations?
