Hey all, my trusty Knipex 1875 pliers won't charge. Dead as a doornail. Tried different outlets, checked the charger light – it's green. But the tool just sits there. Any ideas? It's only a year old.

I've had that happen with a DeWalt impact. For me it was the battery contacts – they got gunked up. Try rubbing the contacts on the battery and the tool with a pencil eraser. If that doesn't work, might need a new battery. Some brands are junky like that.

Hold up, first: safety. If the battery is swelling or hot, don't force it. Could be a fire risk. Also, check the manual for battery reset procedures. Some have a little button to reset the BMS. Otherwise, maybe the charger is bad, not the tool. Try charging another battery if you have one.

I had a similar issue with my Milwaukee. Turned out the firmware needed updating? Weird, I know. But they had a USB port on the charger for updates. If your tool is "smart", check the app or site for firmware. Otherwise, maybe warranty claim if it's new.
