Hey everyone, I'm in the market for a new pressure washer and I've narrowed it down to either DeWalt or Makita. This will be for home use – cleaning my driveway, siding, maybe the occasional car wash. I've heard good things about both brands, but I'm not sure which one to go with. I'm leaning towards DeWalt because I already have some of their 20V tools, but Makita seems to have a good reputation too. Any thoughts? Budget is around $300-$400.

I've been a Makita girl for years and their pressure washers are solid. I have the HW1300 and it's been a beast for 3 years now. Never had a single issue. The build quality is top-notch and it's surprisingly quiet for a pressure washer. Plus, Makita's customer service is great if you ever need it. I'd say go Makita, you won't regret it. But full disclosure, I'm a bit of a fanboy (fangirl?) so take that with a grain of salt lol.

I've used both brands, and honestly, for home use, you can't go wrong with either. But here's my 2 cents: DeWalt's electric pressure washers are known for their durability and they often have better accessories included (like different nozzles and a turbo nozzle). Makita might have a slight edge in motor efficiency, but DeWalt's customer support is pretty good too. If you already have DeWalt batteries, maybe check if they have a cordless option? Although for a pressure washer, corded is usually more powerful. What's more important to you: portability or raw power?

Thanks for the input! I think raw power is more important since I'll be using it around the house. I don't need to take it far. I did see that DeWalt has a cordless model that uses their 20V batteries, but I'm worried it won't have enough juice for tough jobs. Anyone tried the cordless DeWalt pressure washer? Or should I stick with corded?

Cordless pressure washers are convenient but they usually have lower PSI and GPM. For tough jobs like stripping paint or cleaning deep stains, you'll want corded. Makita's corded models have great power. I've used my neighbor's DeWalt corded one and it was fine, but I still prefer my Makita. Either way, make sure you get one with at least 3000 PSI if you're doing driveways. And don't forget to winterize it if you live in a cold climate! Learned that the hard way.
