Alright folks, I'm in the market for a new pressure washer for cleaning my driveway, patio, and maybe the car. I've narrowed it down to DeWalt and Makita. I'm leaning toward DeWalt because I've got their drill and it's been great, but I've heard Makita has some good models too. Any of you have experience with either? I'm looking for something reliable, easy to start, and with good pressure. I don't want to spend a fortune, but I don't want junk either. Thoughts?

Hey Bob, I've used both professionally. Makita tends to have better build quality and their pumps are usually a cut above. DeWalt is good, but I've seen more issues with their consumer-grade units. For home use, both will be fine, but if you're planning on using it regularly, I'd spend a bit more on Makita. The 3300 PSI model with the Honda engine is a beast. Just my two cents.

I'm with Bob103 on this. Makita's pumps are more durable. But also consider maintenance - Makita has easy access to the pump oil and the filter. And if you get the one with the triflex wand, it's so much easier to get under things. I've detailed my truck with it and the ability to adjust the pressure precisely is a game changer. DeWalt is decent, but Makita feels more professional.

Thanks for the input, guys. I'm leaning toward Makita now, but I'm concerned about the price. The 3300 PSI model is a bit over my budget. Is the cheaper Makita model worth it, or should I just go with a DeWalt in my price range? Also, any tips on what to look for in terms of maintenance?

If you're on a budget, the cheaper Makita may have a different pump (like an axial cam) that's not as durable. I'd rather get a higher-end DeWalt with a better pump than a budget Makita. Look for models with a direct drive pump, or even better, belt drive if you can. Also, check the GPM - more GPM means faster cleaning. And always use a water filter to prevent debris from wrecking the pump. Good luck!
