Hey everyone, I'm in the market for a new pressure washer. I've been using a cheapo for years and it's finally given up. I do a lot of exterior cleaning for clients - driveways, decks, siding. I've narrowed it down to two: the DeWalt 4200 PSI and the Makita 4000 PSI. Both are around the same price. Which one would you guys recommend for professional use? I need something reliable and powerful.

I've used both. DeWalt has a slightly better build quality, IMO. The frame on the Makita feels a bit flimsy. But let me tell you, the Makita engine is smooth as butter. If you're going to be using it all day, the vibration on the Makita is less tiring. Also, check the warranty - DeWalt usually offers 3 years, Makita only 1 on the pump. That might matter for resale value.

I'm just a DIYer, but I got the DeWalt 4200 a year ago. No complaints so far. It blasts through my driveway stains like nothing. One thing to note: the DeWalt comes with a longer hose, which is nice. But I've heard Makita has better pressure regulation - like when you need to clean something delicate. Paul, since you're a pro, maybe you need that adjustability?

I've been in the trades for 40 years. My advice? Go with the one that's easier to find parts for locally. Both are good, but if you ever need a pump or a wand, you want to get it fast. Around here, DeWalt parts are everywhere. Also, the DeWalt has a higher PSI, but don't forget GPM - gallons per minute. There's a difference. Check the specs on both. But honestly, you can't go wrong with either. Just don't buy one of those little electric ones thinking it'll do the job.

Thanks for the input, guys. Drilly, good point about the warranty. Felix, I do need some adjustability for soft washing, but I also need brute force for tough mud. I'm leaning toward the DeWalt now because of the warranty and parts availability. But I'll check the GPM. Larry, you're right - gotta think about maintenance. I think I'll go with the DeWalt. Appreciate the help!
