Hey everyone, I'm restoring a classic car and need a pressure washer that can handle heavy duty stripping without damaging the paint underneath. I'm torn between the DeWalt 4400 PSI and the Makita 4000 PSI. I've heard DeWalt is tougher but Makita has better controls. Any advice from folks who've used both?

I've used both on job sites. DeWalt is a beast for stripping paint and concrete, but it's loud and heavy. Makita is smoother and quieter, with better pressure adjustment. For restoration, I'd go Makita - you want control, not brute force. DeWalt might chew up the metal if you're not careful.

I second Carl. I've got a Makita for my woodworking shop and it's great for delicate work. Plus, Makita's trigger system is way more ergonomic. DeWalt feels like a sledgehammer. For a car, go Makita and get a foam cannon setup.

Good points guys. I was leaning DeWalt because of the extra PSI, but you're right about control. Makita it is. Any recommendations on nozzles for car paint?

Get a 40-degree tip for general rinsing and a foam cannon plus a degreaser. For stripping, a 25-degree tip works but keep it moving. And always test on a small spot first. Good luck with the restore!
