Hey everyone, I'm looking to buy my first pressure washer and trying to decide between DeWalt and Makita. I've seen both at my local hardware store - DeWalt's 3400 PSI electric model and Makita's 3200 PSI one. Price is similar. I'm an apprentice plumber, so I'll use it for cleaning tools and maybe some side jobs, but mostly for my own driveway and patio. Any thoughts on which brand holds up better? Worried about longevity since I'm on a budget.

Great question Wendy! As a collector, I own both brands' pressure washers (among others). DeWalt's electric units have slightly better PSI consistency under load in my experience, but Makita's pumps tend to be quieter and have better hose reel designs. For driveway cleaning, either will work fine. Check the nozzle variety included - Makita usually gives more options. Also, DeWalt's warranty service has been faster for me when I needed parts. Both are solid, but if you're doing side jobs, DeWalt might handle commercial-ish use slightly better.

I've had my DeWalt pressure washer for 3 years now and it's a beast! Cleans my concrete driveway like magic every spring. My neighbor has a Makita and complains about the hose kinking sometimes. The DeWalt trigger feels more durable too. But honestly, both get the job done. Make sure you get one with adjustable pressure settings so you don't blast your patio stones apart lol. Also, store it inside during winter - learned that the hard way with my first washer!

Weekend warrior here - I went with Makita last year cause it was on sale at Costco. Works great for my driveway and washing the cars. Only used it maybe 10 times total, but no issues so far. The compact design stores easier in my garage. If you're just doing home stuff like me, either brand is probably overkill honestly. My buddy has a cheaper brand and it works fine too. But if you're set on DeWalt vs Makita, can't go wrong with either for occasional use!
