Hey guys, stumbled upon a deal for a 3200 PSI pressure washer with a Honda engine for $250. Normally these go for $400+. Is this a no-brainer or should I be wary? It's from a local tool recycler, so I'd have to check it out in person.

That's a steal if it's in good shape. Honda engines are workhorses. Check the pump though - that's where they cheap out. Look for leaks, make sure it holds pressure, and test the unloader valve. Also, ask how many hours are on it if possible.

I've got a similar one. That price is suspiciously low. Could be a scam or it's been beat to hell. Bring a socket set and check the oil, check the spark plug, and run it for a few minutes. If it starts easy and doesn't stall, you're golden. Just don't expect it to be like new.

Thanks for the tips! I'll definitely bring my multimeter to check the outlet? Nah, just kidding. I'll bring a screwdriver and a flashlight to inspect the pump and engine. Should I negotiate? He's asking $250, but maybe I can talk him down to $200.

If it's solid, $250 is already good. Lowballing might insult him, but you can ask if he's flexible. Maybe offer $225 and see. Also, check the nozzles - they often get lost. Replacement nozzles are cheap though. If it comes with the wand and hose, you're set.

Post pics if you get it. And remember, in this hobby, you'll end up using it more than you think. Just don't go full pressure on your deck or you'll etch it. Ask me how I know... haha.
