Hey all, just a friendly reminder to wear ear protection when using your pressure washer. I was out cleaning my driveway yesterday and didn't think about it, but after 20 mins my ears were ringing. That thing is loud! Also, safety glasses are a must - I got blasted in the face with mud from a crack. ouch. Anyone else have a close call?

Preach, Wendy! On job sites I make all my guys wear ear muffs and face shields. The pressure washer can easily hit 80-90 dB, and over time that adds up. I've seen too many guys with hearing loss in this trade. Also, don't forget steel-toe boots if you're doing commercial work - falling debris is no joke.

Good reminder. As a safety inspector, I can't stress enough that hearing damage is permanent. Even cheap foam earplugs help. And for eye protection, ensure it's rated for impact (ANSI Z87+). I've seen a pressure washer stream cause a rock to fly like a bullet - shattered a guy's safety glasses once, lucky he had them on.

Ha, I'm guilty of ignoring ear pro too. But I'll add: wear long pants! I was washing under my car and the spray kicked up some gravel that left welts on my legs. Also, don't point the wand at your feet - the water can cut through a sneaker like butter. Learned that the hard way. Oops.
