So I stumbled across this article about electric razors and shavers. I know this is a power tools forum, but hey, a rotary tool is a rotary tool, right? 😄 Seriously though, some of these units claim to have 'precision trimming' and 'variable speed control'. Sound familiar? Made me wonder if any of you guys have tried using an electric shaver for light sanding or detail work? Thoughts?

LOL Dave, you're reaching. But I get it. Honestly, I've used a cheap beard trimmer to sand small 3d prints before. Works in a pinch if you don't have a Dremel handy. As for the article, I'd stick to my old Braun for shaving. Not gonna risk my face with a knock-off.

Haha, yeah this is a bit off-topic but I'll bite. I actually have a 'multifunctional' shaver that came with a bunch of heads - one is basically a mini rotary sanding disc. It's terrible for shaving but pretty good for small hobby jobs. So maybe there's some crossover? But for real, if you need a rotary tool, get a Dremel or a clone. Shavers are for faces, not wood.

BuildItBob205: That's exactly what I was thinking! Some of these shavers have attachments that look like mini detail sanders. Maybe the article is just trying to market to DIYers who also shave? 😂 Anyway, I'll stick to my rotary tool for projects and my safety razor for my face. Thanks for the input guys!
