Building a shed, need rotary tool advice

Hey folks, I'm planning to build a 10x12 shed in my backyard this spring. I need to cut some metal roofing, trim plywood, and maybe sand some edges. I'm thinking about getting a rotary tool, but not sure which one. Any recommendations? I'm on a budget, so looking for something under $100.

For that price range, you can't go wrong with the Dremel 3000. It's got variable speed, which is key for different materials. I've used mine for years, and it's held up great. Just make sure to get a good cutting wheel for metal and a sanding drum for wood. You'll also want a flex shaft attachment if you're doing fine work.

I'd look at the Milwaukee M12 rotary tool if you already have M12 batteries. It's a bit more expensive, but it's cordless and has more torque. For cutting metal roofing, you might want something with a bit more power. I've had mine for a while and it chews through everything. Just my two cents.

For trimming and sanding, a cheap rotary tool will do. I'd get a variable speed one, like the Dremel, and spend the saved cash on good accessories. Don't forget safety glasses with those cutoff wheels.

I'm with Tim on this. If you're cutting metal roofing, you need a grinder, not a rotary tool. Rotary tools are for detail work. But since you're asking, I'd recommend the Bosch RT90. It's a bit above budget, but it's a beast. I've used it professionally for years. It has a nice grip and variable speed. You can find it on sale sometimes. Check online.
