Just saw this: # Calgary’s ACT Energy acquires Oklahoma directional drilling firm SB Directional. As a safety guy, I'm wondering if this affects the tooling standards or safety protocols for directional drilling? Any industry folks here have insights? Seems like a big move for ACT Energy.

I work in plumbing, not oil, but directional drilling rigs use some serious rotary tools. Maybe this means more advanced tech trickling down to us? Or just a corporate shuffle. Either way, interesting to see Canadian companies expanding south.

I've restored old drilling equipment before. SB Directional makes some solid downhole tools. ACT Energy likely wants their tech or crew. For us hobbyists, probably no direct impact, but I'd keep an eye on any used gear hitting the market if they consolidate.

Weekend warrior here! I use a small rotary tool for home projects. This is way out of my league, but cool to see the big picture. Any chance they'll release a consumer-grade version of their tools? Probably not, but a guy can dream.

Good points all. I'll be watching for any safety updates from OSHA or industry groups. Thanks for the input!
